On February 24th, LWVSCDE member Jack Young served as moderator for the Milton Town Council Forum which was organized by the Milton Chamber of Commerce. In addition to asking the questions Jack kept all in the audience engaged with his humor. The three candidates are: Fred Harvey, Lee Revis-Plank, and Erin Willis. After giving an introduction of themselves the three candidates answered audience generated questions.
Topics for these questions covered a wide array of topics that all communities, especially on the eastern side of Sussex County are challenged with addressing. The issues included: increased traffic on town and state roads, infrastructure support with increased housing development, installation of parking meters in the downtown area, educational and recreational opportunities for youth and young adults, affordable housing, traffic calming measures (reduce speed limits, four way stops, one-way streets), and how much time in addition of town council meetings do council members devoted to council affairs. Candidates also explained what special skills and experience they have to be qualified for the town council.
