Learn about National Sunshine Week on March 13 at 6:30pm at the Hudson Library and Historical Society from the League of Women Voters of Hudson (LWVH). Sunshine Week was created 20 years ago to shine a light on the importance of openness and transparency in government.  It is a reminder that the people have a right to know what is going on in government and to hold them accountable, as well as to promote citizen engagement.

LWVH contributes to this goal by organizing and training an Observer's Corps, whose members volunteer to observe various public governmental meetings in Hudson and Summit County to see if they are adhering to Sunshine Laws. The legislative history of how these laws were created and how they are related to First Amendment Rights and the non-partisan collaboration among groups in jounalisim, civic organizations, education, government and private sectors will be explained. There will be time for a Q&A session. The public is invited.
