Supporters of the Citiizen Not Politicians amendment plan to challenge the wording on the ballot on November saying it deceives voters. The Ohio Ballot Board voted 3-2 on Friday to certify ballot language for a redistricting amendment to the Ohio Constitution on the November ballot.  Jen Miller, executive director with the League of Women Voters of Ohio, said the board has violated its duty to provide fair and impartial ballot langugage. Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose’s office proposed loaded ballot language for the redistricting reform measure, includi

Secretary of State Frank LaRose said lawmakers should consider eliminating ballot drop boxes after a federal court ruled that Ohio law violates the rights of people with disabilities who need help voting absentee.

Advocates sued over a rule allowing only certain family members to return absentee ballots on behalf of relatives who are hospitalized or homebound because of an illness or disability. The list includes spouses, parents, siblings and grandparents, but not grandchildren or caretakers.

 Akron residents could be purged from Ohio’s voter rolls in the next few weeks if they don’t take steps to prevent it. The purge is a result of a May directive from Secretary of State Frank LaRose mandating that county elections boards identify and report voters who have been inactive over the past four years. The list of people to be removed also includes voters who have moved somewhere new without updating their registration.
