The League of Women Voters of New Castle is committed to facilitating voter education. As part of our mission, we aim to coordinate nonpartisan candidate forums to introduce voters to the candidates on their ballots and to have candidates answer questions on topics of interest identified in advance by community members. To ensure that all residents have the ability to have their areas of concern addressed, questions are solicited in advance and compiled by a questions committee to cover as many topics as interest as possible in the time available. To ensure the nonpartisan nature of the forum, the forum is run by a League trained moderator who is not a voter in the race being covered. Candidate forums are only held for contested elections, and only multiple candidates for the office agree to participate.
LWVNC is committed to offering forums for candidates of contested races in our area of coverage and issues invitations to candidates to participate in a virtual or, where possible, in person candidate forum at least 6 weeks prior to the election to maximize the chance to organize a successful forum. Resources permitting, LWVNC will also partner with other local leagues to arrange for candidate forums for races spanning multiple league coverage areas and is willing to attempt to arrange candidate forums for contested races in neighboring communities and districts that are not covered by a local league.
Request for Candidate Forums
Forums that have been arranged or are being worked on will appear under the headings below. If you would like to ask that LWVNC entertain a request to conduct a candidate forum for a race in your area, please fill out this form. Please understand that to maximize our ability to meet your request, we should receive your submission at least 6 weeks before the start of voting, including early voting periods. For the fall 2026 election that date is September 12, 2026. We will not be able to consider any requests made less than 4 weeks before the start of the voting period.
Fall 2026 Election
The race for New Castle Town Supervisor is uncontested. Consequently LWVNC is not hosting any local candidate forums this election season.
Spring 2026 School/Library Board and Budget Votes
LWVNC held a virtual Candidate Forum to introduce the candidates for the Chappaqua Library Board of Trustees to community voters. The election for two seats on the Chappaqua Central School District Board of Education was uncontested; there were two candidates running for two seats. FALL 2025 Election Season
For the 2025 fall election season, LWVNC held candidate forums for Westchester County Legislator District 4 and the Town of Pound Ridge Town Supervisor and Town Board Members. Pound Ridge Town Supervisor and Town Board Members
LWV New Castle sponsored a candidate forum for our neighbors in the Town of Pound Ridge. Both candidates for the Pound Ridge Town Supervisor position, Kevin Hansan and John McCown, and three of the four candidates for the two open Town Board Member positions, Peter Avellino, Diane Briggs and Daniel Paschkes, participated.
