The LWV advocates for voting issues and we need you to call Ohio's senator, Rob Portman at 202 224-3353 and tell him to vote YES on the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.
- Freedom to Vote Act - is a fair representation bill the Amereican people want and deserve. It will put power back into the hands of American voters by removing barriers to voting, tackling dark money's influence in our elections, and combating discriminatory gerrymandering.
- John Lewis Voting RIghts Advancement Act - will fully restore the Voting RIghts Act and ensure renewed oversight, accountability, and justice in our democracy.
In the Ohio Statehouse
- We oppose the following: HB 322 , and HB 327 which prohibits the teaching of "divisive concepts" at all levels of education, including K-12. The League believes in honesy in education.
- We support the following: HB 183 and SB 103 regarding the abolition of the death penalty
