At January's Book Club meeting we will choose the books to read for the months ahead. We tend to read non-fiction, but not always. We usually read about current political issues, biographies of world leaders, political history and social studies. Please come with a few suggestions of books you've already read or want to read.
Some of our past books include:
- The Year of Living Danishly: Uncovering the Secrets of the World’s Happiest Country, by Helen Russell
- Hillbilly Elegy, by J.D. Vance
- Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America, by Ibram X. Kendi
- The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels, by Jon Meacham
- The Travels of a T-shirt in a Global Economy, by Pietra Rivoli
- Hood Feminism: Notes from the Women That a Movement Forgot, by Mikki Kendall
- Gunfight: The Battle over the Right to Bear Arms in America, by Adam Winkler
- Susan, Linda, Nina and Cokie: The Extraordinary Story of the Founding Mothers of NPR, by Lisa Napoli
You don't have to be a League member to attend! Our meetings are informal and in someone's home with snacks and wine. Please let Kathy know if you plan to attend by sending her an email.
