LWV Hudson's Book Club has chosen How Democracies Die: What History Reveals About Our Future, by authors Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt for January's Book Club. This book is on the New York Times best selling list and has been named as one of the best books of 2023 by Time and the Washinton Post.  Is our democracy in danger? The Harvard professors authors have spent more than twenty years studying the breakdown of democracies in Europe and Latin America, and they believe the answer is yes for the U.S.
