Kyle Kondik and LWV Ohio Executive Director Jen Miller will have a lively talk about the state of American politics with a particular emphasis on redistricting, voting rights and U.S. political opinion trends as we head towards the 2022 mid-term elections.
Kyle Kondik is managing editor of Sabato’s Crystal Ball, the University of Virginia Center for Politics’ authoritative, nonpartisan newsletter on American campaigns and elections. He is the author of The Long Red Thread, a history of the growth of Republican power in the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as The Bellwether, a history of Ohio’s presidential voting history.
Before joining the Center for Politics in 2011, Kyle served as director of policy and research for former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray and as a reporter, editorial page editor, and political columnist at newspapers in Northeast Ohio. He earned his MA in Government from Johns Hopkins University in 2019. Kyle is a 2006 graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at OhioUniversity, where he also served as editor of the university’s student-run newspaper, The Post. He was honored by the university with the Charles J. and Claire O. Ping Recent Graduate Award in 2019.
He lives in Northeast Washington, D.C. with his wife, Lottie Walker, and their young son, Albert. He is a native of Greater Cleveland, Ohio.
