All are invited! Bring a friend for September's Book club meeting! Instead of choosing one book to discuss, at our last meeting we decided to each read a Banned Book of our choice and report on it. Google "banned books" and take your pick! If you would like, choose a Children's or Young Adult book. At the meeting we will also choose the books we'll read in the months ahead
We tend to read non-fiction, but not always. We usually read about current political issues, biographies of world leaders, political history and social studies. Please come with a few suggestions of books you've already read or want to read.
Some of our past books include:
- The Moment o Lift, by Melinda Gates
- The Year of Living Danishly: Uncovering the Secrets of the World’s Happiest Country, by Helen Russell
- Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America, by Ibram X. Kendi
- The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels, by Jon Meacham
- The Travels of a T-shirt in a Global Economy, by Pietra Rivoli
- Hood Feminism: Notes from the Women That a Movement Forgot, by Mikki Kendall
- Gunfight: The Battle over the Right to Bear Arms in America, by Adam Winkler
- Susan, Linda, Nina and Cokie: The Extraordinary Story of the Founding Mothers of NPR, by Lisa Napoli
You don't have to be a League member to attend! Our meetings are informal and in someone's home with snacks and wine. Please let Kathy know if you plan to attend by RSVPing below.
