James Field retires from Hudson Board of Education

James Field

The LWV of Hudson has continually been impressed with James Field, Board of Education member, who is retiring this month. Since the League's Observer Corps has observed Board of Education meetings for decades, they have noted that over the years Mr. Field has been a voice of wisdom and has kept the Board appraised of state issues regarding the effect of proposed bills on local schools. He has served on many committees and has spent countless hours at meetings and planning the Master Facility plan. His involvement enabled the Hudson City Schools to build the new middle school, upgrade other schools, and create a remodeled, single administration building. We thank Mr. Field for his service and wish him well as he leaves the Board.

Members of the League of Women Voters of Hudson's Observer Corps observe public meetings of the City of Hudson's various governmental decision-making bodies. The Board of Education has consistently adhered to Sunshine Laws requirements by having their meetings open to the public and has shown transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement by following many best practices policies such as adhering to Roberts Rules of Order, following a printed agenda, and allowing for public comments at each meeting.
