At our 2024 Program Planning meeting, it was suggested we start a Book Club. LWVPA member, Ann, volunteered to get the Club started. She knows something about Book Clubs having started one 20 years ago, which is still going strong!
Book Club will meet starting in October 2024. If you are interested in joining or would like more information before joining, email us at lwvperrysburg [at] gmail.com.
About her initial picks for the Club, Ann says, “I curated three selections, a combination of a short paper and 2 books, to provoke curiosity and thoughtful conversation and possibly, a course of action.” Here are the books:
- Bowling Alone: America's Declining Social Capital, (1997), Robert D. Putnam.
- Late Admissions: Confessions of a Black Conservative, (2024), Glenn Loury. WARNING: Mr. Loury does not shy away from his explicit drug use and sex.
- Poverty by America, (2023), Matthew Desmond
