Yes, Voting Machines are Tested Prior to Every Election

copied & pasted from:  Ohio Secretary of State Week in Review FWE February 3, 2023

You may be wondering how election officials in Ohio ensure the voting equipment is working correctly prior to an election. The simple answer – they are tested.

Before voting begins, voting machines and tabulators go through a full battery of public logic and accuracy (L&A) testing by a bipartisan team to ensure they work properly and have not been manipulated. L&A testing is the systematic pre-election testing of every component of a voting system with every ballot style to demonstrate that the ballots are accurate and that votes cast will be tabulated properly. Each board of elections is required to conduct L&A testing before every election on every single voting machine and each component of automatic tabulating equipment, including backup machines and equipment. Boards are prohibited from deploying any voting equipment that has not undergone L&A testing.

This commitment to transparently demonstrating the accuracy and precision of the voting machines used by our 88 county boards of elections, along with the required vote audits after every election, has resulted in accuracy rates of 99.9% in every Ohio election administered under Secretary LaRose.
