If you are considering running for local or state office, come explore the idea with us!

This is a non-partisan virtual event for those who are thinking about running for public office or want to understand the candidate onboarding process better. There will be a follow-up virtual event about running for office in the spring.

The following topics will be covered at the event (they will be addressed by local election directors or Dr. Jeri Cabot, a former political science professor and retired Associate VP at the College of Charleston):

  • accessing voting data
  • cost of running for office
  • filing process
  • candidates’ “go to” people
  • partisan and non-partisan candidate guidelines
  • candidate laws
  • developing a platform for office
  • voter history

Join us to learn more about the process and prepare yourself to run for office, whether it be city council, school board, or state legislature! This event is being co-sponsored by the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce and the League of Women Voters of the Charleston Area.
