2025 Candidate Forums

RECORDING: Mount Pleasant Town Council Special Election Virtual Forum

LWV Charleston hosted a virtual candidate forum for the candidates for one open seat on Mt Pleasant Town Council. This special election results from the resignation of Carl Ritchie, who has been elected as Charleston County Sheriff.

Mt Pleasant Town Council seats are non-partisan and represent the town at-large rather than by districts. In alphabetical order, here are the ten candidates are vying for the open seat (eight of them participated in this forum):
Jordan Bryngelson; Gary Davis; Brianna Harmon; Derek Johnson; Garrett Lacy; David Smith; David Spedden; Bob Swain; Mike Tinkey; and Mike Van Horn Sr.

Recording: SC House District 113 Democratic Primary Candidate Forum

This is for the special election necessitated by the resignation of former Democratic Rep. Marvin Pendarvis. All three candidates in the Democratic primary participated: Michelle Brandt (D), Kim Clark (D), and Courtney Waters (D).  Click here to read these candidates' responses on LWV's Vote411 election information site.

The Democratic primary will be held on January 21, 2025 (with early voting from January 6 to 17th), and the general election will follow on March 25, 2025.
