On Tuesday, August 22nd, members of the League of Women Voters joined Planned Parenthood of Northern New England to celebrate Women's Equality Day at the State House. Governor Phil Scott issued a proclamation at his ceremonial office commemorating the passage of the certification of the 19th Amendment which gave American women the right to vote.

Although the 19th Amendment was ratified on August 18, 1920, it was officially certified on August 26 by Secretary of State Bainbridge Colby at his home in Washington D.C. at 8 a.m. Official observance of Women's Equality Day is August 26!
