LWV Whitewater Area is in planning meetings with LWV Beloit (and the Beloit NAACP) and LWV Janesville to develop three co-sponsorships for candidate forums in district races that impact our service areas with support from LWV Wisconsin. Senate District 11, for example, covers all three Leagues’ jurisdictions. Our efforts to schedule a candidate forum for SD11, however, have failed due to the unwillingness of the Republican candidate in SD11 to attend a League-sponsored forum. Candidates in the SD11 race are Steve Nass (Rep) and Steven Doelder (Dem).

A candidate forum for Assembly District 31 is currently pending a response from the Republican candidate. It is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 24, 10 -11:30 a.m., in the City of Whitewater Council Chambers, 312 W Whitewater Street. Candidates in the AD31 race are Ellen Schutt (Rep) and Brienne Brown (Dem).

Our third candidate forum, for Assembly District 33, is confirmed! It will be held on Thursday evening, October 6, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m., in the Dwight Foster Public Library, 209 Merchants Ave, in Fort Atkinson. Candidates in the AD33 race are Scott Johnson (Rep) and Don Vruwink (Dem). This forum is co-sponsored by LWV Whitewater Area and LWV Janesville with support from LWV Wisconsin.
