Since 2010, the League of Women Voters Whitewater Area has annually recognized community members who, through their work or volunteerism, have positively impacted the community in which they live. In selecting each year's Making Democracy Work award honoree, the League looks for individuals who have implemented a vision of making their communities safer and fairer places in which to live and those who have mobilized others to work with them to affect beneficial change. League members are encouraged to submit their nominations to the board by the November 1st deadline.

The Making Democracy Work award will be announced in December.
