The League of Women Voters - Whitewater Area hosted an in-person candidate forum on Saturday, March 12, in the City of Whitewater Council Chambers, 312 W Whitewater Street, Whitewater.

For the April 5 Spring Election, there are three open seats, four candidates, and one contested race.
All candidates with the exception of Lukas Schreiber (AD2, Wards 7&8, incumbent) attended. Participating candidates included Jill Gerber (AD4, Wards 5&6) and Jim Allen (incumbent) and Chuck Mills (Council Member At Large). The forum was moderated by League member and UW-Whitewater Professor of History Dr. Karl Brown.

Candidates were asked questions about economic development, electronic vehicle charging stations, the city's response to the influx of immigrants from Nicaragua, the lakes drawdown project, progress on attracting a grocery store, the plans to transform Whitewater’s volunteer fire department into an official city department, the public library's expansion and renovation project, the increase in the water utility bills, housing, and more! A question asked during the forum regarding the importance of transparency in government stated that the City of Whitewater Chief of Police Aaron Raap had been fired. He has not.
