The Wheaton League of Women Voters will be hosting a candidate forum to be held at Wheaton City Hall Council Chambers on March 6, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:45 PM. The Public cannot attend due to COVID restrictions but the forum will be recorded and made available on our website. Wheaton Public Access TV will also broadcast the event.  The public will be encouraged to submit their questions in advance to the League of Women Voters at info [at] wheatonlwvil.org  

Recording will take place:

10:00 – 11:30 District 200 Forum Wheaton City Hall 
11:45 - 12:45 Wheaton City Council South District Council Chambers

Candidates will receive a formal letter that they need to sign and return as soon as possible.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization and does not support or endorse candidates but does sponsor candidate forums as a service to the voters of the community.  

Information for Candidates:

We do ask candidates to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start of their designated forum and follow all COVID-19 Protocols of maintaining social distancing and masking.  Only the moderator, candidates, timekeepers, and public access Channel 8 staff will be allowed in the Council Chambers. The public will be encouraged to submit their questions in advance to the League of Women Voters at info [at] wheatonlwvil.org                                                                                                                                                            

At the forum, the candidates will each give a one-minute opening statement.  Candidates will have an opportunity to respond to questions that have been submitted in advance of the forum.  Questions will be screened to avoid duplication.  Candidates will have one minute to respond to each question.  League members will time candidate’s responses to ensure equity.  Following the question period each candidate will have one minute to make a closing statement.  Candidates must be present; a candidate’s representative will not be allowed to make a statement.

Also, you must also return by the March 3rd deadline your signed agreement to abide by the ground rules for the forum included with this invitation to Barb Laimins.  You may text a photo of the signed ground rules to the above phone number.

If you do not RSVP with all the requirements by the deadline of March 3rd, you will not be allowed to participate in the forum. Please contact us with questions, concerns, or special needs.
