Guest speaker Dr. Richard Kezirian will present "Congress: The Road to Decline and Disgrace," based on his insights studying history. From the post-Civil War to post-Roe v Wade periods, Kezerian will discuss the path to ideological polarization in Congress. He will touch on the impacts of interest groups, money and elections, powerful personalities, and Supreme Court rulings, among other negative influences on the institution.
Dr. Kezerian, Professor Emeritus, retired after a forty-year career teaching History at MPC and the Gentrain Program. He is now Professor and Program Director for the Panetta Institute for Public Policy, where he teaches and moderates many of the Institute’s classes.
