Each year in February the LWVMC board and members meet to discuss priorities for the upcoming year. The following issues for emphasis, initially adopted for the 2021-2022 program year, were continued for 2022-2023:

1)    Countywide water issues including both those affecting the Salinas Valley and Monterey Peninsula

2)    Affordable housing, with a focus on farmworker housing

3)    Criminal justice reform at the local level.

An additional area was added for 2022-23:

4)    Consideration of mitigation of climate impacts and adaptation to climate-change in local government policies.

The annual program planning meeting for 2023-24 was held on February 6, 2023. The recommendations of that meeting will be presented for ratification by the full membership at the May 10, 2023, annual membership meeting.
