Examining the Supreme Court: Local Implications of Recent Rulings

The League of Women Voters of Monterey County will present a free talk titled: "Examining the Supreme Court:  Local Implications of Recent Rulings" at an in-person "Lunch and Learn" meeting at noon on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.  

 The topic is current Supreme Court cases with immediate impact on our lives and democracy.  It includes a brief analysis of significant 2021-22 decisions, especially Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, and implications of the cases to be decided in 2023.

Our speaker is Michelle “Mickey” Welsh, Adjunct Professor of Constitutional Law at Monterey College of Law. Ms. Welsh is a retired attorney, whose practice concentrated on employment, education, civil rights and constitutional law. She is a frequent speaker on Constitutional issues and has been active in the Monterey County Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) for over 40 years.

The "Lunch and Learn" will be held at at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 490 Aguajito Road, Carmel CA 93923.

Doors open at 11:30  Lunch at 12 noon and Program at 12:30. 

Lunch costs $25 per person and payment is at the door by cash or check. Lunch includes grilled salmon, rice, Greek salad, hummus, pita bread, fruit and baklava for dessert. Catering by Chef Faris Nimry, International Cuisine of Pacific Grove.
