Lunch & Learn with the League. "Impacts of Climate Change on Sea Levels & Forest Fires: How Our County Will Respond" Guest Speaker: Michael DeLapa, Executive Director of LandWatch Monterey County, will address expected changes to sea levels along the Monterey County coastline and expectations for forest fires throughout the county. Following Mr. DeLapa’s presentation, Kelsey Scanlon, Emergency Services Planner, Monterey County Office of Emergency Services will respond to the issue.
LandWatch Monterey County is a nonprofit organization that Mr. DeLapa founded in 1997 to promote sustainable growth and land conservation. Over a 40-year career in government, business, and nonprofits, he founded or helped launch ventures including the California Fisheries Fund, the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, Sea Studios Foundation, Arena Solutions, and FotoNotes. DeLapa has served as Chief Operating Officer, New Leaf Paper, VP Marketing, Cleantech Group, and been Management Consultant to many other organizations. He has an MBA and a Public Management credential from Stanford Graduate School of Business, and Master and Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology from Stanford University.
Ms. Scanlon assists the County Emergency Services Manager in planning, coordinating, developing and promoting emergency servicesoperations, plans and programs, and in organizing and training emergency services personnel.
