Our selection for March was The Parrot and the Igloo: Climate and the Science of Denial by David Lipsky.  We continue holding our meetings on Zoom – which allowed our dear Barb Wood to continue from Idaho – and now Kathleen Montgomery from Virginia.

 A couple of days before the meeting our Coast email account received an email from the author asking if he could join us.  Of course we were suspicious we’d been hacked…  But after investigation we sent him the Zoom link – and crossed our fingers.  We also extended the invitation to our “South Book Club” and our “Climate Change Task Force” teams.

 Happily he did join us for a lively discussion.  Member Pam Mortenson beautifully summed it up:

“Such a fascinating meeting. What an articulate and knowledgeable person David Lipsky is. I was so impressed by his interest in our questions, opinions, and comments not only of his book but the whole issue of climate change and denialism in general. I feel honored that he wanted to participate in our discussion. Thanks everyone for a great afternoon.”

 Certainly a first for our “club”.
