On August 20, 2025 the Orange Coast League of Women Voters had the privilege to host the U.S. Representative Dave Min at our August 20th sold to capacity, Lunch with League.
David Min is a lawyer and politician who has served as the U.S. representative from California's 47th congressional district since 2025. He currently represents California’s 47th Congressional District in the heart of Orange County, which includes the cities of Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, and Seal Beach, as well as parts of Laguna Hills and Laguna Woods. He previously represented the 37th district in the California State Senate, which includes portions of Orange County, from 2020 to 2024,where he focused on affordable housing, gun violence prevention, climate action, and small business development. Before becoming an elected official, Congressmember Min was a law professor at the University of California, Irvine.
As stated on the Representative’s webpage, his basic philosophy of governance is one of long-termism, summed up by this quote from the ancient Greeks: A civilization is great when its elders plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.
The information presented, and answers to questions from attendees, clearly demonstrated his commitment to this philosophy and how he applies it to working for his constituents.
