Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; What Comes Next?
Speaker: Adena Ishii, LWV of California DEI Chairperson
Adena Ishii is a long-time League member who serves as Director on the League of Women Voters California state board and Chair of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) Committee. She believes that DEI work is essential for the future of the League and that using a DEI lens will help us create a more representative democracy. She was the youngest and first person of color to be elected President of her local Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville League, where she is still active.
Topic: Many League members are now familiar with the concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), but what comes next? How do we use a DEI lens on our League work? Adena Ishii will talk about the work of the newly reformed DEI Committee, discuss their plans moving forward, and briefly share the DEI Guide that was presented at the last state convention. She will give examples of how Leagues across the state are implementing DEI and take questions from the audience.
