LWV Solano Observer Corps Updates, Reports & Guidelines

The League of Women Voters has always been a champion of protecting citizens' rights to know. This is in addition to our mission to encourage active citizen participation in governing through public-policy education and advocacy.

In the spirit of “charity begins at home” and with the purpose of sustaining our national democracy, the League of Women Voters Solano County has organized an Observer Corps Program in recognition of the fact that the affairs of municipalities and rural areas alike must have local administration and citizen participation in government, showcasing the accuracy of the saying, all politics is local.

• 1. Provide and protect Solano County residents’ public access to information—their right to know—integral to the health of our democracy
• 2. Provide Solano citizens a way to engage actively in the government process to make their lives and their communities stronger
• 3. Increase participation in the League.

All are welcome to attend the Training and Mock City Council Meeting, however since Observer Corps volunteers will be representing our league, all active volunteers will need to be LWV Solano County Members.

We are excited to have the Solano Youth Coalition (SYC) as allies in this initiative. All SYC student participants will also be League members.
