A series of candidate forums will be held on five consecutive Thursdays starting January 9, at the Eric Rood Government Center in Nevada City. Moderated by the League of Women Voters of Western Nevada County, a nonpartisan organization, the forums are for congressional, state, and local offices to be on the March 3 Primary Election ballot. All official candidates were invited to the forums.

On Thursday, January 30, U.S. Congress California District 1 candidates will attend, including Audrey Denny (D), Joseph LeTourneau IV (I), Paul Saulsbury (R) and Rob Lydon (D). Incumbent Doug LaMalfa (R) declined, and Gregory Cheadle (I) has not yet responded.

Questions to the candidates are provided to the moderator alternately from the audience and from media representatives from The Union, Yuba Net, KVMR and KNCO. No campaigning is allowed by the candidates or their campaign teams, and the League requests that audience members refrain from wearing campaign clothing, buttons, or hats.

The forums will be broadcast live on KVMR and both live-streamed and provided for viewing after by Nevada County Media. They can be viewed live on Comcast ch18, Suddenlink ch16, Nevada County Media Facebook and Nevadacountytv.org website ch18 link. These can also be viewed later on the NCM Government YouTube channel, the LWVWNC website and on both Comcast ch17 and Suddenlink ch17.   See the video of the forum here.
