The League of Women Voters of Litchfield County will partner with the Litchfield Historical Society to offer a talk called "Hidden in Plain Sight: Decoding Public Monuments". Our speaker will be David Anthone, the Supervisory Historic Preservation Officer of the General Services Administration. Anthone's government role is within historic preservation and public art, while his art practice focuses on painting, conceptual work and ready-mades, at his studio in Roxbury, CT. The Wilton League of Women Voters, together with the Wilton Library, will present a Legislative Dialogue with State legislators, Senator Will Haskell (District 26), newly elected Representative Stephanie Thomas (District 123), and Representative Tom O'Dea (District 125). Constituents will have the opportunity to give their feedback and ask questions about issues facing our town and state.

Starting in 1916 and into the 1970s, six million African Americans left the rural South and moved to cities in the Northeast, Midwest and West. Join Dr. Van Gosse, who will discuss The Great Migration, what the “migrants” left behind, what they faced and how they fared in their new urban-industrial lives.

Join the League of Women Voters of Redding and other sponsoring organizations for a conversation with Freedom Riders Joan Browning and Dion Diamond. The Freedom Rides spanned from May through November 1961 with over 400 Black and white Americans risking their lives to end segregation on interstate transportation.
