The U.S. Capitol Historical Society is a fascinating trove of information and programming on U.S. history and civics, including voting and suffrage issues and the expansion of suffrage to many diverse demographics. As an example, in May of this year the Society held a symposium to celebrate the centennial of Native American Suffrage, which is now available on YouTube at this link. The Indian Citizenship Act of 1924 granted citizenship to all “Indians born within the territorial limits of the United States” and marked a pivotal moment in Native American history. The symposium explored the impact of the Indian Citizenship Act, the evolution of Native American suffrage, and the ongoing efforts to protect and preserve Native American voting rights. The event featured leading scholars and practitioners, representing a balance of federal, academic, tribal, and advocacy perspectives, along with a diversity of regional viewpoints.

The mission of the U.S. Capitol Historical Society is, in part, "to foster and increase an informed patriotism of the land in the study of this living memorial to the founders of this nation and the continuing thread of principles as exemplified by their successors."
