This Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 1-5 PM, at Monocacy Village Park, 401 Delaware Road, Frederick, MD 21701, the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has organized its 3rd Annual Community Day 2024, “Unity Through Community: From Advocacy to Engagement to help raise awareness about the diversity of services and resources in Frederick and provide a better understanding of what the Juneteenth holiday is all about.
The League of Women Voters of Frederick County will be at this event to provide Voter registration information as well as information about Vote411 and how to use it, and about our activities, such as the voter forums we conducted for the Primary elections.
There will be something for everyone. This is a family, children-friendly event. Special activities for children will be available. There will also be food trucks at the event. ATTIRE: Casual and Comfortable.
Throughout the day, there will be a number of presentations by community individuals and organizations. As time permits, please check out the talent including historical presentations, solos, group performances, dance, etc.
PARKING: Parking is limited, especially with only one main entrance to the park. The Park is in a quiet area–adjacent to the backyard of community residents. On-the street parking is available on a first come, first serve basis. If you park in the neighborhood, please be respectful of the homes and do not block driveways. Parking is also available at the shopping center at the corner of East Street, and at the YMCA.
FOOD GIVEAWAY: There will be a limited supply of assorted pre-packaged non-perishable items for anyone who desires support. Food Giveaway is free and sponsored by The Rescue Mission and I Believe In Me.
SHRED TRUCK: Shred truck will be near the front of the park, 1-4 PM. Please bring items you would like to have it shredded. Pre-register for Shredding by June 14, 2023 at AARP Shred Truck Registration.
SERVICE PROJECT: Please help us support Andrea's House Inc. during Community Day by bringing one or more of the items listed below.
o Diapers (all sizes) and Pull-ups (size 4T-5T)
o Baby wipes
o Bedding (for twin beds)
o Towels
o Soap
o Dishwashing liquid
o Laundry detergent
o Cleaning products
o Paper plates, plastic cups, paper towels
