Welcome to New Members!

Welcome to New Members!

Welcome to the League. We're so happy you have joined. The work of nonpartisan organizations such as the League of Women Voters is especially important in promoting civic engagement in democracy, providing nonpartisan information for voters, and encouraging citizens to become well-informed voters.

There are many ways to learn more about us and find a way to become engaged.

Our board meetings are on the third Monday of each month, in person at the C. Burr Artz library, but also available on Zoom. Find information for upcoming Board meetings at https://my.lwv.org/maryland/frederick-county/calendar. You will find the Zoom link there for the meeting as well. League members arewelcome. Members will receive an email with the date, time, and Zoom link, as well.

We have added you to our member Gmail distribution list, so you'll automatically receive emails about board meetings and other news. You can find our latest board meeting minutes at May 2024 Minutes and our most recent newsletter at May 2024 Newsletter.

There are many ongoing projects which support voters in Frederick County, including creating and updating the League’s Vote411.org Voters’ Guide (see https://www.vote411.org/) and holding forums for Congressional District 6 and Frederick County Board of Education candidates.  You can check our video recordings of these forums at https://www.youtube.com/@frederickcountylwv313/streams
The work has already begun to do this all again for the General Election in November.

Other activities include holding tables at community events to educate the community on how the League provides nonpartisan voter education, helping with voter registration, speaking at events about the how-to of voting, and encouraging folks to plan to vote. There are many other projects and issues the League pursues. Check them out on our website at Resources for New Members | MyLO (lwv.org).

Joining the League of Women Voters of Frederick County also includes membership at the national and state level, so you can make a difference on many levels.
