Mary Ellen Rhoderick

My family moved to Frederick from New Jersey in 1958 and I joined the LWVFC in 1967 or 1968, when my mother, the membership chair, recruited me. I’ve joked that she threatened she wouldn’t babysit for my (then) non-existent children if I didn’t join, but I saw how much satisfaction she got out of working for good government. I’ve been a member of committees on social justice issues, international relations, education, charter government, ERA, Know Your County, ethics, and others--a great education. I was a terrible elementary school teacher for a couple of years, and worked at various times for the Dept. of Social Services and as a Realtor, but also spent a lot of time raising my children and volunteering.
