Facilitated by Joan Sampieri LWVAAA President,  panelists Yodit Mesfin Johnson - President and CEO of NEW, Felicia Braebec – Washtenaw County Commissioner,  and Desirae Simmons – Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice discussed the League’s history of failure to address issues of racism, the efforts and challenges faced by local black, indigenous and people of color about their efforts and challenges related to racial equity and policy locally  and the necessity for white people to realize their contribution to racial inequality.
