Carole Leigh Hutton retired in 2023 after a career that spanned more than 30 years in the newspaper business and 15 years in nonprofit leadership. Most of her journalism career was at the Detroit Free Press, culminating in her being named the first female executive editor and, later, the first female publisher & editor. Ms. Hutton has served on numerous nonprofit boards in both California and Michigan.
