During July, August and September Brews & Views and Lunch & Learn presented a series of conversations about Criminal Justice in Washtenaw County. If you missed a presentation, or would like to re-visit one, here are links to the videos.
In August of 2020, Citizens for Racial Equity in Washtenaw County (CREW) published its first formal report on racial disparities in the county's criminal legal system. CREW found glaring disparities in the experiences of white residents and residents of color in interactions with the county's police, prosecutors, and courts. We were joined for a one-year update by Desiree Simmons, Co-Director, Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice, and Rev. Joe Summers, pastor of the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation. Both guests are CREW members. Here's the CREW Toolkit. And the original CREW Report
