Honoring Clerks and election workers in Washtenaw County

Honoring Election Workers
Tuesday, April 12, 2022 - 12:00am to 11:45pm

On April 12th, the League of Women Voters handed out certificates of thanks honoring all clerks and election workers in Washtenaw County.

 Voting in elections is how we, the people, have a say in the decisions that impact our lives - from the jobs in our communities to the healthcare we have access to. Election workers are essential workers that support our communities - like nurses, grocery store workers, letter carriers, and firefighters.

Our democracy depends on them. Throughout the deadly pandemic, election workers have sacrificed their own health and safety to ensure that we are able to cast our votes safely and they work overtime to ensure that every vote is counted accurately.

You can send your thanks, too - anytime.  Here's information from LWV US about how:

Volunteers can write and mail thank you messages on a card or postcard that states how much you appreciate your election officials' hard work. You can find your election official’s contact information here: https://bit.ly/ElexOffice

Sample message:

Hello, as a resident of {City, State}, I want to let you know that I appreciate all the hard work you, your fellow election officials, and poll workers have done and continue to do, to ensure that the voting process runs smoothly. You are the back-bone of our democracy and for that you are a true Hero.

Thank you, {First Name}
