Light4 Democracy

Light4Democracy
Tuesday, March 4, 2025 - 8:30pm

On March 4th - Join the LWV of Washtenaw County in a show of solidarity.

Democracy is not just a system of government—it’s the power of the people. It begins with us, our voices, and our votes.  At a time when democracy is under threat, we're asking you to come together to defend it.

Tuesday, March 4th marks the President’s Address to Congress. Instead of tuning in, We the People are asking members and friends to:

1. Put a candle in your window as a show of solidarity shining a "Light4Democracy" during the time of the speech, 8-9:30pm, March 4th.

 2. Take a photo of the candle which can be posted to our social media during the time of the speech, and send the photo to communications [at] lwvwashtenaw.org

 3. Use the time to contact your members of Congress, by phone and in writing, urging them to continue protecting our democracy. You could send a copy of your candle picture.

 4. Invite friends, family, and other democracy groups to participate in this easy act symbolizing our support for democracy.

This act of solidarity will offer a peaceful and unified expression promoting the health of our democracy, the future of our nation, and the well-being of all its people.
