Michigan’s lakes, streams and groundwater are being polluted by human waste leaking from our failing septic systems. Michigan is the only state in the nation with no statewide law regulating private septic systems. Learn more about the problem and solutions at a LWVMI Statewide Zoom presentation 

 Jennifer McKay bio- Jennifer McKay is the Policy Director of Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council, leading the organization’s policy work to improve water resources protection and achieve local, state, and national priorities. She has been appointed to the Great Lakes Commission and the Michigan Underground Storage Tank Authority by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. She serves on many boards and committees dedicated to preserving and protecting the Great Lakes and the state’s waters, and is currently the Chair for the Michigan Environmental Council Board of Directors. She graduated from Michigan State University with degrees in Environmental Studies and Political Science.
