On Thursday, January 28, 2021, LWVCT President Carol Reimers spoke at the Press Briefing about Modernizing CT Elections with Secretary of the State, Denise Merrill. Secretary Merrill introduced the results of the poll commissioned by Secure Democracy, showing that a large majority of Connecticut voters support Early In-Person Voting (almost 80%) and No-Excuse Absentee Ballot Access (70%).

We view protecting the right to vote and the opportunity to exercise that right as paramount for our representative democracy to survive and thrive. Due to the restrictive language in the State Constitution, we need to amend the State Constitution language in order to update our election laws. Contact your state legislators today and ask them to support Early Voting and No-Excuse Absentee Voting!
