The League of Women Voters of Nevada County is run completely by volunteers. Our success depends on the enthusiastic participation of our members.

Voter Registration Team

Join other LWV Nevada County volunteers to assist those passing by who need help registering to vote. Supporting materials are provided to assist you.  
 
A table will be set up in front of Briar Patch at 290 Sierra College Dr, Grass Valley on Saturday, May 16 from 1pm - 5pm. Full description of what your participation will entail here.

Candidate Forum Coordinator

Candidate forums are one of the League’s most important services to the community. Coordinators identify local races; contact candidates; arrange venues; collect, vet and prioritize questions; schedule moderators; and work with the volunteer coordinator to recruit needed volunteers for each forum. Forums will take place at the end of April/early May and again in October. You will be trained this spring and be supported in fall. PDF icon Full job description here.

Candidate Forum Committee Member

Volunteer with the League of Women Voters and be a part of empowering voters and defending democracy by helping produce the Candidate Forums which are one of the League’s most important services to the community. Support is needed at each forum to ensure a successful, safe, and educational evening.

Voter Services Chair

In this leadership position, you will lead a team of members in local events to encourage the active and informed participation of citizens to exercise their right to vote. All activities are impartial and non-partisan. The File Voter Service strategy for this coming year can be viewed here. The high level timeline and planning supporting the strategy has already begun with our team - so you will be able to hit the ground running with us!

Development Committee Member

Volunteer to be a part of empowering voters and defending democracy utilizing your leadership and fundraising skills on a new Development Committee led by an experienced local League leader. This includes being part of the 2026 strategic fundraising campaign that supports essential activities aligned with our mission.

Volunteer of the Year

Joey Vol of Year Joey Jordan recruiting new volunteer Jackie - (Joey on the right).

Joey Jordan is a retired nonpartisan political consultant and fundraising professional. A 30-year
Nevada County resident, she joined the League of Women Voters in 2011 and served on the
board for over a decade, in various positions, including Membership Chair and, most recently,
Outreach Coordinator. 

Jordan has served in leadership roles on over 40 local non-profit boards including Rüdiger
Foundation, KVMR Community Radio, Sierra Watch, The Food Bank of Nevada County, and
Rough and Ready Fire Behind-The-Scenes (BTS) Fire Auxiliary. She currently serves as the
elected Board Chair of the Penn Valley Fire Protection District and can most often be found at
the Penn Valley Fire Department Thrift Shop where she has been an auxiliary member since
2019.

“Running the Outreach Booth for LWV has been a very rewarding experience. It was so fun to
meet new people and make new friends who, like me, care deeply about voting rights and
democracy,” stated Joey.
