Ann Arbor October Lunch & Learn. What's the current status of Line 5?
Terri Wilkerson is a member of the LWVAAA and a founding member of the Brighton Howell Geographical Unit which began in 2018. Since learning about the unnecessary threat Line 5 poses to our water and economy she has dug deep into learning more about it, and started the website RetireLine5.org to share her research with others.
LWV MI is calling for shutdown of Line 5 + the improperly installed, anchor dented 66 year old pipeline that carries 22.7 million gallons of petroleum products through 645 miles of Michigan and returns to Canada with the vast majority of its contents for export. Line 5 crosses several hundred waterways in Michigan but the most critical spot is in the Straits of Mackinac. Come learn about Line 5 and the Canadian company, Enbridge, which operates it. Their reach extends into our political system and is quite intriguing.
