The United States is one of a handful of UN nations that does not guarantee equal rights for women and men, but we're closer than ever.
What would gender equality look like to you?
- Everyone is treated equally and laws are enforced equally, regardless of gender?
- Equal pay for people doing the same job?
- Protection from and accountability for gender-based violence from police officers, schools and universities, and places of employment?
- Parental leave so that moms are not discriminated against for pregnancy?
- Maternal health benefits so that women in the U.S., particularly women of color, do not lose their lives in childbirth?
While the majority of Americans believe that women and men should have equal rights and be equally protected by the U.S. Constitution—we have not achieved either. So many of our greatest challenges are rooted in this disparity.
Join us on January 20, 2022 for an engaging gathering that will educate, inspire, and connect us to one another and a simple step you can take to help move the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) over the finish line. Our Speakers: Carol Tempel, Barbara Fry, Laurie Levin, Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter, and Senator Sandy Senn.
The Equal Rights Amendment:
"Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex." (Authored by Alice Paul, 1923)
