The keynote speakers for the Summit are Bill McKibben who helped launch the Oil & Water Don't Mix campaign to shut down the Line 5 crude oil pipeline, and Michigan’s Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson.

 The Washtenaw League’s Voter Services team led by Rebecca Shiemke will be at the Summit all day with voter education and registration information. Sandy Sorini Elser, on behalf of the LWV Washtenaw Advocacy Committee and the LWVMI Advocacy Committee, will participate in a panel discussion on “Getting Out the Climate Vote.” Sandy plans to highlight the work LWVMI does to support environmental protection and fight climate change such as Michigan’s Clean Energy and Jobs Act, the Community Solar bills, and statewide regulation of Michigan’s failing septic systems. We are excited about this important opportunity to reach out to voters using early voting and mail in ballots,and educate them on bills that will fight climate change and protect our environment.
