A Celebration of Dedication and Service to Solano County

A Celebration of Dedication and Service to Solano County

Event at Rock Creek Winery 10/12/25

On October 12th, Rock Creek Winery played host to a special event that celebrated the extraordinary contributions of Lisette Estrella Henderson, the retired County Superintendent of Schools for Solano County. The day was filled with heartfelt appreciation for her many years of dedicated service to the students, educators, and communities within Solano County. She worked tirelessly to provide support to all districts, large and small, throughout the county, always ensuring that educational equity remained at the heart of every decision.

Gail Thomson delivered a powerful speech on the pressing issue of homelessness in Solano County. She eloquently shared her insights into the challenges faced by the homeless population, shedding light on the personal and societal costs of homelessness. Emphasizing that each person is an individual, Gail called for greater recognition of their humanity and the importance of listening to their needs. Her words resonated deeply with those in attendance, encouraging them to look beyond the surface and engage with empathy and compassion.

In the spirit of giving, the event saw a generous outpouring of donations from those present, as attendees contributed coats and supplies to help support the housing insecure in our community. It was a tangible reminder that each of us has a role to play in making our world a more compassionate place.

This year marked the fourth annual event organized by the League of Women Voters of Solano County which continues to make a significant impact through its work. Attendees also had the opportunity to learn about the league’s ongoing projects and its commitment to fostering positive change in Solano County.

The words of Mahatma Gandhi serve as a fitting reminder of the spirit of this event.
"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."

Indeed, these women’s remarkable legacy is a testament to the power of service and the difference each person can make.
