Volunteer to Help Voters Get Ready for Election Day
LWVLGA is partnering with LWV Cook County and the Greater Chicago Food Depository to provide voter registration and voter education assistance at two local food pantries this fall. Volunteer opportunities are available at:

Volunteers will help community members check their voter registration status, register to vote, and learn about their voting options before the November 3 election. Help Voters Cast Their Ballots
LWVLGA is partnering with Community Assisted Rides (CARS) to help older adults overcome voting barriers this election season. Volunteers are needed to:
- Drive CARS clients to early voting sites beginning October 19
- Assist with the return of vote-by-mail ballots to help ensure they are properly signed and postmarked

Help Out at a Polling Place!
- Get Certified as a Poll Watcher - LWVIL is offering Poll Watcher training on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom. Participants must be League members to receive LWVIL certification. Register at least 24 hours in advance here.
- Get Paid to Work There - The Cook County Clerk’s office is still recruiting Election Judges and Polling Place Technicians for the November 3 election. Both are paid positions and play a crtical role in ensuring a smooth voting experience. Apply here as soon as possible to allow time to complete the required training.
- Election Judge ($250) - Assist voters, process check-ins, and help manage polling place operations.
- Polling Place Technician ($400) - Set up and maintain voting equipment and supplies while also serving as an Election Judge.

In recent years double checking claims made by candidates, PACs, and other information providers has become more necessary than ever. A task force of the Illinois League of Women Voters has released a very useful summary of Web sites and other resources you can use to double check the information that you encounter. You can

Join Us for Lively Discussions of US Foreign Policy
Great Decisions is a program created and supported by the Foreign Policy Association which consists of eight units, each focusing on a timely topic in foreign relations from the US perspective. Meetings are held monthly on the fourth Wednesday of each month (except for July, August and December) at the Hinsdale Public Library and on-line via Zoom. A program book (available at the Library) is supplemented with two or three additional recent resources.
