May 1, 2024, 7pm, Hudson High School Media Center “Best Practices for the Yard” The Climate Sustainability Committee presents the second Roundtable in a series for the public that will focus on the steps individuals can take to reduce their carbon footprint. Local experts, including an arborist and a Summit Metro Parks naturalist, will share sustainable yard practices such as using native plants and trees, avoiding fertilizers and pesticides, and using electric equipment that support the local ecosystem and fight climate change.

May 29, 2024, Dedication of the Sojourner Truth Legacy Plaza and Statue Unveiling in Akron. Sojourner Truth Committee intentionally aligned the unveiling with the May 29, 1851, date of Truth’s speech known as “Ain’t I a Woman?” to honor the impact of Truth’s lifework on Akron’s history and that of our nation. The Committee aspires to mark this date for future remembrances of Truth’s work and impact.
