How are membership dues used?
Membership dues paid to our local League are split three ways: the national League ($32), the state League ($14), and our Charleston Area League ($4). Our local league is run entirely by volunteers. The programs and services of the League of Women Voters of the Charleston Area are primarily provided through the generous donations of our members and others.
I'm in! How do I join? Or renew my membership?
New and renewing members have the following payment options:
- By mail: Mail a check ($50 for individual membership, $75 for household membership) addressed to LWVCA, PO Box 20173, Charleston, SC 29413. Please be sure to include your phone number and email address so that we can be in touch with you!
- Online: Use the PayPal checkout box below to select your membership type and complete the checkout process. Note that PayPal fees bring the total charge to $52 for an individual membership and $77 for household. You can also include an optional additional donation that goes directly to the LWV Charleston Area chapter (scroll down to learn more).
Our league year runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year, so memberships are up for renewal on July 1 each year. We truly appreciate your annual support! Please note that membership dues are not tax-deductible, but donations to the LWVCA, which is a 501(c)3, are tax-deductible.
