The Propositions: Pros and Cons

We had another successful season of Pros and Cons presentations throughout Orange County. We did our first one on September 19th and then continued through October 25th.

This was an amazing group effort. We started recruiting for participants to help document the Pros and Cons beginning in July. This is the first time since I’ve been involved, that we did the write ups as a group. We had seven propositions and different people worked on each one – except for 26 and 27 which were closely tied together. Doing this as a group really worked well as no one was overwhelmed with the work and we were ready at our kickoff presentation. In August we started looking for people to do the presentations and this time around, we did a mix of Zoom and in-person presentations. And people really stepped up so that no one felt they were carrying the whole effort.

Our speakers were Anne Stone, Martha Uriarte, Laurie Jacobs, Trudy Josephson, Chris Schechter, and me. Jan Dye and Jone Pearce served as Zoom hosts on two of the presentations. Everyone was tremendous. And the feedback from the different organizations was overwhelmingly positive. I hope that others will join this group for 2024.

You may have noticed that I didn’t include Patty Santry in this list. And that’s because she deserves a special salute. She filled in as speaker at the last minute on one of the presentations, acted as Zoom Host and did Q&A. And facilitated all things technical. She also was a key participant in the development of our presentations and made sure we were all on the right track. So a special thanks to Patty.
