Celebrate International Women's Day
In recognition of International Women’s Day, the League of Women Voters of San Diego and the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) are presenting a panel and discussion on women’s and human rights. The virtual meeting will take place Thursday, March 10, 5:30-7 pm.
Our own Director of International Relations, Kathleen Montgomery, will be one of the speakers. She will give a slide presentation on the United Nations Core Human Rights Conventions. She also will discuss the topic of Gender Equality, with suggestions for League action.
The second speaker will be Anne Hoiberg, past president of LWV San Diego and UNA-USA San Diego. Anne has been a frequent delegate to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women; she led an 18-member delegation to the 1995 U.N. Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing. She will discuss the connection between the LWV and WILPF, Jane Addams role with both organizations, and the 2015 Women’s Peace Conference.
